Is the Quran the Word of God?

What if someone claimed to be one of these messengers?

Having rationally proved the existence of a Creator, the question we must ask ourselves now is, what do we do with this information?

The One that caused everything to exist did not do so without a purpose. We have all been put on this earth for a reason, but what is that reason and how do we know?

We have not been left alone to fumble in the darkness. The Creator not only caused our existence, but from the beginning of time has provided mankind with guidance on how to live our lives in order to fulfil our purpose. He has done so by sending prophets and messengers to spread His word.

What if someone claimed to be one of these messengers?

We would almost certainly expect to have some type of proof that the person was indeed a genuine messenger before accepting what was said. We would expect proof of authenticity. Such proof exists in many different ways; one of which is through miracles.

What exactly are miracles?

A miracle is an extraordinary event that lies outside of scientific explanation and natural law. Miracles have been used by the Creator in order to establish the credibility of a prophet. Without these miracles to prove the person had indeed received revelations from God, anything they said would be unreliable and untrustworthy.

The miracles of Moses and Jesus (peace be upon them)

All prophets had miracles to substantiate their claim of prophethood. One of the miracles of Moses was to turn his staff into a serpent. Magicians and illusionists of the time failed to match this achievement and immediately declared their belief that this indeed was a man who was an authentic prophet. Similarly, no one could replicate the healing powers bestowed upon Jesus by the Creator, and thus became a highly respected and widely followed prophet of the time.

Can we accept these miracles even though we didn't see them?

No we can’t. We cannot be 100% certain that the miracles of Moses and Jesus aren’t just stories, unless we have proof.

So, do we have proof?

Yes we do. The proof lies within another prophet and within the miracle that was sent to him. This is the miracle of the Quran. Unlike the historical miracles of other prophets, this miracle can be tested and verified today.

What is the Quran?

The Quran is the book sent down to the prophet Muhammad(peace be upon him) by the Creator in order to guide mankind towards fulfilling the purpose of life. Amonga few miracles associated with him, the Quran is the greatest one of all. Within the Quran are proofs that not only a Creator exists, but that Muhammad (pbuh) was a prophet. It also verifies the miracles of both Moses and Jesus (peace be upon them both).

Proof that the Quran is a miracle

Proof lies within the style, grammar and meaning of the words in the Quran. In the Arabic language it is hard to achieve two of these aspects when speaking and impossible to attain three; however an illiterate person successfully recited an entire book that contained all three features. This style is maintained from the beginning to the end without any compromise to perfection; and no one in 1400 years, despite the challenge, has been able to replicate a single verse like it.

"And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down upon Our Servant (Muhammad), then produce a surah (chapter) the like thereof and call upon your witnesses other than Allah, if you should be truthful." [Quran 2:23].

Didn’t Muhammad (pbuh) write it?

No. The words of Muhammad (pbuh) have been documented in countless reports and his speech is completely different to that of the Quran. He never claimed that the words were his own despite the eloquence of them and the recognition he was getting from them. Muhammad (pbuh) was an illiterate man, and the fact that he was able to reveal an entire book orally, that when in written form contain extraordinary examples of structural sophistication (such as entire palindromic sentences) and intellectual content (such as scientific knowledge that we are only just discovering now), is proof that the Quran is a miracle sent to a prophet by the Creator

What does the Quran contain?

Amongst scientific revelation and historical accounts of previously unknown facts, it also contains a complete system for organising life's affairs. It addresses the political, social and economic matters of one’s life in detail. It has answers to the existential questions of why we were created, what our purpose in this life is, how we should live our life and what happens when we die.

Where can I read more about this?

You will find everything that you need to know in the Quran. You do not have to be literate in Arabic in order to read it; there are many translations of the Quran found in bookstores around the world. Be a part of the growing number of intelligent people who refuse emotional belief. Let your intellect guide your emotion and let your journey begin with the Quran.
